Great game, great.

Although the gameplay is similar to the Metal Slug series, it's still enjoyable all the same, especially since you spice it up for the last two fights against the strange "Hansel thing". I get the feeling I've seen it somewhere before...did you just think it up for this game or did you use it in another flash?

Great except for one thing...

The game is freaking HARD. Very, very hard. The Genetic Research Lab at the end is the hardest room of all, you will kill and kill and you find yourself wondering "Dear GOD, when is that f--king door going to open?!?"

As for the corridors where you have enemy-spawning teleporters in front of the doors that will lead you out and home, use the lead pipe and bash their heads in. Just stand by the teleporters and bash, bash, bash. This technique also works well on the level against the oncoming undead spawn near the end of the game. Just stand with your back to the exit and bash them as they come a you, bash-bash-bash until the exit's open.

Could use serious work.

This is being fair. I had to reset the game literally a dozen times before finally getting just over 10 grand, and there is no other way to win except to get out a loan from the guy at the bank by saying you want a kitchen and that you work in an office. (That man is ugly as hell) and don't even THINK about doing a job, that just wastes time. Roulette is the only way to go. Remember, first it is either black, then it's red, or vice versa. This game needs a lot of work or some other ways to earn cash...

Impressive. Most impressive.

Now here's a word of advice to all of you: LEVEL. UP. YOUR. CHARACTERS.

There. I have said it. Level up, level up. Train, train, train. If you train hard enough, you'll be rewarded.

Moving along, the story is new and different, and the battle engine is very good and easy to understand. I especially like the voice acting. Best of all, this game gives a...well, a human element to a zombie story. You actually find yourself going "THOSE BASTARDS" at least once in it. So play away, people! And please, for EVERYONE'S sake...stop whining so much.

Just one problem...

Even on the easiest setting, Belphegor is freaking IMPOSSIBLE to beat. He beats me in TWO MOVES. He's completely overblown in terms of strength. Worst of all, his health mothertrucking REGENERATES. Seriously messed up.

I am very impressed AND frustrated. Congrats.

Occasionally, I come across a game that challenges me or makes me very involved. One that has me staying up late, saying "come on, come ON" as I try to win it. One that, believe it or not, makes me go "ARGH" and bite into my fist as I screw up at it. This is one of those games. It's challenging, tough as can be, and kick-ass, all at the same time. The graphics are fairly simple, naturally, but there's a fluid, retro feel about it all and the little humor you insert with Rick and...heh, "Smurf"...is funny. Nice names for the bosses, and of course, the "play as multiple people" option is very excellent. My only gripe that keeps this from getting a perfect ten is that I beat the game on the Hard option and I got no reward, which is depressing to me, because I had hoped that I would be able to have something to go on for winning as X and Zero. Now I'm on Delia, and DAMN is Fusion Drake tough for Melee characters! I intend to continue trying hard until I figure out the secret to creaming this sucker! Best of luck to your future projects, and may your future shine bright, maelstormm!

Thanks. I learned a bunch of do's and don't after making this one (given it's been years since this post) and hope RN/MMNR work better for ya.

Very challenging but very good! One problem tho...

I thoroughly enjoyed playing both this version and the version on your site. Even on "Easy" it's challenging and it requires you to think carefully and yet move quickly. The only real problem I have with the full version of your game is that the ending was kind of anti-climactic. I mean, that's it? That's all?

Still, great job.

This was a good game and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I like the simple way the game operated and yet the complexity you added to it. Also the plot was quite intriguing. The woodcutter avenged his wife and saved the land, but now he was nothing left. All I can say is that where there is life, there is hope. You just gotta find it.

SecretSecretary responds:

Nice, thanks :)

WOW!

I never saw it coming...but when you think about it, it makes sense. Also, the irony in it was nice. "What do I have to do to establish my innocence, be the next victim?". Classic stuff! Poor Jack, he deserved better.

Congratulations.

It takes a lot of effort to make a good flash game. You've succeeded.

I'm proud to be a Newgrounder. ever since I joined I made a promise: To not to be one of those "That shit sucks out loud" types...I keep to it. I intend to make myself known as a fair and competent reviewer. Look out world!
